Ingredients
  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak (ribeye, top round, or sirloin)
  • 1½ cups caramelized onions (about 2 medium onions)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for caramelizing onions)
  • 1 cup jarred roasted red pepper strips, drained
  • 2 packs Président® Pub Cheese® Sharp Cheddar (approx. 16 oz total)
  • 12-16 Hawaiian slider rolls (1 standard package)
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted, for brushing tops
  • 1 tsp garlic powder, or 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1-2 tsp oil, for cooking steak
Instructions
  1. Partially freeze the steak for 20–30 minutes to make thin slicing easier. Slice into very thin strips, about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. Heat 1–2 tsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak in a single layer and season immediately with salt and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until just browned but still juicy. Remove from the skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
  4. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden and sweet (about 15–20 minutes).
  5. Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and arrange the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  6. Spread one pack of Président® Pub Cheese® Sharp Cheddar evenly over the bottom halves.
  7. Layer cooked steak evenly on top of the cheese.
  8. Add caramelized onions and jarred roasted red pepper strips.
  9. Spread the remaining one pack of Président® Pub Cheese® Sharp Cheddar over the top halves of the rolls.
  10. Place the top halves of the rolls over the sliders.
  11. (Optional) In a small bowl, mix 3 tbsp melted butter with garlic (powder or minced) and chopped fresh herbs if using. Brush generously over the top of the slider rolls.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until rolls are golden and Président® Pub Cheese® is melted and bubbly.
  13. Allow to cool 2–3 minutes for easier pulling apart. Serve warm as a shareable snack.
